What would you like to learn?

Pick a subject to start a request. From a first piano lesson to AP Calculus — every learner deserves a teacher who meets them where they are.

How it works

Three steps to the right teacher.

No marketplace fees, no long contracts. Schola introduces you to instructors — you decide who fits.

  1. Tell us what you need

Share the subject, the learner's level, your location, and whether you prefer online or in-person lessons.

  2. Meet your matches

We review your request and introduce you by email to instructors who fit your goals, schedule, and budget.

  3. Book a trial lesson

Connect directly with the instructor, agree on rates and schedule, and start with a trial lesson to make sure it's the right fit.

For families & learners

Request an instructor.

It takes about two minutes. The more you tell us about the learner, the better we can match.

  • Reviewed instructors

Every instructor applies with credentials, experience, and references before being introduced to families.

  • You stay in control

No obligation. Rates, schedule, and payment are arranged directly between you and the instructor.

  • Safety first

For young learners, we recommend a parent is present or nearby for the first lessons, or choosing online lessons in a shared space.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Something else? Get in touch.

Is Schola free for families?

Yes. Requesting an instructor through Schola is free. You agree on rates and scheduling directly with the instructor.

How are instructors reviewed?

Instructors apply with their subjects, experience, credentials, and references, and each application is reviewed before a profile goes live. We recommend every family starts with a trial lesson, and that a parent is present or nearby for young learners.

Can lessons be online?

Yes. Many instructors teach in person, online, or both. Choose your preferred format when you send a request — online lessons open up specialists who may not be in your city.

How much do private lessons cost?

Rates are set by each instructor and vary by subject, experience, and location. Many private lessons in the US fall between $30 and $100 per hour, with specialized test prep often higher. Tell us your budget and we'll factor it into your matches.

I'm an instructor. What does it cost to be listed?

Applying and being listed on Schola is free during our launch period. Apply to teach.

Do you work with schools and homeschool co-ops?

Yes — schools and co-ops looking for specialist instructors (e.g. Latin, strings, or robotics) can send a request too. Mention your organization in the message, or get in touch.
